Prepare to be chilled by David Fincher’s Mindhunter

Debuting this week on Netflix, chilling 10-part crime thriller Mindhunter is the latest offering from legendary director David Fincher.

Inspired by retired FBI agent John E. Douglas and Mark Olshaker’s 1996 New York Times bestseller, Mind Hunter: Inside the FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit, the series is set in 1979 and charts the relentless efforts of two FBI agents who profile some of America’s most notorious serial killers in a bid to shed light on similar cases.

Working in the behavioural science unit, agents Holden Ford (Looking’s Jonathan Groff) and Bill Tench (Holt McCallany) — who are loosely based on Douglas, considered the pioneer of criminal profiling, and Robert K. Ressler, who is said to have coined the term serial killers — travel between various police stations around the US to share FBI techniques.
