By choosing academics over the colourful projects in the tinsel world, 25-year-old Miss World Australia-2017 Esma Voloder has proved that she has been different from her fellow pageantry winners. A student of psychology and a part-time criminal profiler, she sees the crown as an opportunity to tour the world and interact with people from different backgrounds.
“After winning the title, I got a few opportunities in films and television, to which I said ‘no’. I am passionate about academics and I was forced to sacrifice one academic year for the pageantry,” Esma told The Hindu on the sidelines of the ‘Telugu Princes’ crowning event in the city.
She adds, “I am not against the glamour world. At the same time, I want to make an achievement on the academic front too. Finishing my studies and settling down in psychology-related career are my priorities now.”
