”Beyond A War Zone: What’s Next for Iraq” with Ambassador Lukman Faily, Wednesday, Jan. 10, 5 p.m., KTOO @360. Lukman Faily was the Iraqi ambassador to the U.S. and also Japan. He represents a rising generation within Iraq’s large diaspora of young, democratically-minded professionals.

Candlelight ceremony: Remembering People Lost to Addiction, Wednesday, Jan. 10, 6-8 p.m., Northern Light United Church. The Juneau Reentry Coalition is sponsoring the event as part of a statewide collaboration remembering people lost to addiction. The coalition invites friends, families, and people with lived experience to share their stories of strength and hope, to acknowledge that addiction is a symptom of a disease for which there is daily reprieve in recovery, and to share support for everyone who has lost someone to addiction. Free.
