What Criminal Minds Gets Wrong about Real Detectives

Criminal Minds is one of the numerous police procedurals that can be found on the TV screen. In its case, it stands out in that it is supposed to be based on the Behavioral Analysis Unit, which is the part of the FBI that uses behavioral sciences to help out with the criminal investigations for both complex and time-sensitive cases. Unfortunately, Criminal Minds is much the same as other police procedurals in that it is much more concerned with drama than with accuracy.

What Does Criminal Minds Get Wrong about Real Detectives?

First and foremost, crime investigators are not capable of performing what amounts to magic. For example, a profiler cannot construct elaborate profiles of a person based on one or two details for the simple reason that there is not enough input for them to come up with something useful. Likewise, a computer is not a magical box that can provide

Jonathan Groff opens up about his roles in ‘Mindhunter,’ ‘Hamilton’ and ‘Frozen’

In “Mindhunter,” Jonathan Groff plays an FBI agent investigating serial killers in the 1970s, and the actor told ABC News he is surprised at how some fans have made the thriller their latest Netflix obsession.

“People are binge-watching it like it’s ‘Scandal,’ but it’s this psychological, cerebral show. It’s very intellectual,” Groff said on “Popcorn With Peter Travers.” “It’s not a show that you want to watch while you’re emailing or texting. You’ve got to really focus in. It’s a drama, but the response has been so amazing because people are just eating it up, which has been really exciting.”

“The response to the show has been tremendous,” McCallany tells Men’s Fitness. “The reviews have been strong and the response from fans has been fantastic. I’m getting thousands of Twitter messages per day from people all over the world.

What criminal minds know about your neighborhoods

RANKIN COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) –

Three suspects are behind bars in Rankin county facing multiple charges of church burglary, house burglary, vehicle break-in’s, weapons trafficking and one count of conspiracy to commit residential burglary.

During our interview with Rankin County Undersheriff Raymond Duke, he reveals how some young criminal suspects think. The frightening part is the bad guys may know more about your neighborhoods than you ever imagined.

The target rich environments where people feel safe and fail to take extra precautions to protect their property and valuables.

In the suspects’ confessions, they admitted looking for a “sweet hit’,  places easy to hit and unprotected. Duke said based on comments made by the accused, they were driving around the North shore of the Reservoir looking for an easy target so they could “hit a lick,” Duke told us.

What David Fincher’s Fascination With Serial Killers Tells Us About His Filmmaking

Photo: Merrick Morton/Netflix

There are plenty of films about serial killers, but very few filmmakers who have shown as consistent an interest in them as David Fincher. Since his second feature, 1995’s Seven, established him among our major directors — and provided one of the most disturbing portraits of a fictional serial killer ever made — Fincher has revisited the subject twice in film, with 2007’s Zodiac and 2011’s The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Now, as the executive producer and director of four episodes of the Netflix series Mindhunter, Fincher hasn’t just gone back to the well. He’s plunged deeper than ever into it.

Criminal Minds: Ten Things to Know About the Season 13 Premiere

The Season 12 finale of Criminal Minds had the BAU team rushing to capture the illusive Mr. Scratch when both SUVs that they are riding in are T-boned in a lethal accident that may not have been an accident at all.

From the promo for the Season 13 premiere, it can be seen that Emily Prentiss (Paget Brewster) was seriously injured and taken to the hospital. Since she was sitting on the passenger side, she must have been among the most severely injured, so her fate remains in limbo, as does that of the rest of the team David Rossi (Joe Mantegna), “JJ” Jareau (A.J. Cook),  Dr. Tara Lewis (Aisha Tyler), Luke Alvez (Adam Rodriguez) and Stephen Walker (Damon Gupton).

Safe are Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness) and Dr. Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler), who were not in the SUVs, so it is up to them to carry on the hunt for

Criminal Minds: Everything You Need to Know About Season 13

Criminal Minds ended Season 12 with a major car crash cliffhanger, but “who survived?” isn’t the only burning question on fans’ minds.

That’s because Damon Gupton was let go over the summer after less than a full season and was replaced by Daniel Henney, who is moving to the mothership series in the wake of Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders‘ cancellation. So how will all this be handled next in Season 13 — or “our lucky 13,” as executive producer Erica Messer has dubs it? Here’s what you can expect.
