The FBI Reportedly Knew of Adam Lanza’s Plans Four Years Before Sandy Hook Shooting

Transcript

For Complex News, I’m Natasha Martinez.

Some new information regarding the Sandy Hook shooting shows that the FBI possibly knew about the 2012 tragedy 4 years before it actually happened.

Approximately 1,500 heavily-redacted FBI documents related to Sandy Hook shooter Adam Lanza were made public this week. In them it was revealed that the FBI’s behavioral analysis unit classified what was recorded as “careful, methodical planning and preparation.”

The bureau lists that behavior as part of the reason further action wasn’t taken to prevent Lanza from killing 20 first-grade students and six adults during a 2012 rampage at the Newtown, Connecticut school.

One entry details a man whose name was redacted specifically alerting authorities about a conversation in which Lanza said he had an assault rifle and planned to kill his mother as well as children at Sandy Hook.

However when the conversation between the unidentified person and the Newtown police department was recorded,

The Las Vegas gunman opened fire on a security guard six minutes before he rained down bullets on a crowd and killed 58 people, officials said on Monday in a change to the timeline of the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.

The shooter, Stephen Paddock, 64, was seen on numerous occasions in Las Vegas without any person accompanying him and he gambled the night before the shooting, Clark County Sheriff Joseph Lombardo said at a news conference. He killed himself after the attack.

“This individual purposely hid his actions leading up to this event, and it is difficult for us to find the answers,” said Lombardo, who said

Vegas Gunman Fired on Security Guard Before Shooting Concertgoers

The Las Vegas gunman opened fire on a security guard six minutes before he rained down bullets on a crowd and killed 58 people, officials said on Monday in a change to the timeline of the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.

The shooter, Stephen Paddock, 64, was seen on numerous occasions in Las Vegas without any person accompanying him and he gambled the night before the shooting, Clark County Sheriff Joseph Lombardo said at a news conference. He killed himself after the attack.

“This individual purposely hid his actions leading up to this event, and it is difficult for us to find the answers,” said Lombardo, who said he was frustrated with the speed of the investigation.

Paddock sprayed an outdoor concert with bursts of gunfire from high above in a Las Vegas hotel window on Oct. 1, killing 58 and wounding hundreds more, before shooting himself.

Top 10 Serial Killer Films to Keep You Entertained Before Netflix’s Mindhunter

It has been a bizarre time for Netflix, one filled with highs and lows. On one hand, Netflix has been plagued by rumours of low profits and fan outrage over frequent cancellations (including favourites Sense8, The Get Out and Girlboss), but on the other hand, the online streaming service is enjoying high membership, especially with the impending release of a number of highly anticipated programs including mini-series Alias Grace and urban fantasy Bright.

While Netflix has some big titles on the way, one program that snuck in under the radar is the crime drama Mindhunter. Netflix’s upcoming series is based on Mind Hunter: Inside FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit by author Mark Olshaker and former FBI profiler John E. Douglas, the novel follows Douglas’ work as one of the founding members of the FBI’s elite Behavioural
