Shemar Moore returned to ‘Criminal Minds’ season finale because fans missed him, EP said

“Criminal Minds” fans got exactly what they wanted — Shemar Moore, who plays FBI investigator Derek Morgan on the crime drama, returned for the series’ season finale last night.

Executive producer Erica Messer told Entertainment Weekly that Moore returned to reprise his role on the CBS series because “fans have been missing him, obviously.”

Morgan returned to the series to give his former FBI colleagues an important piece of evidence that they needed about serial killer Mr. Scratch.

Messer also said that she knew Moore was cast in another series, a reboot of “S.W.A.T.,” and wanted him to return to “Criminal Minds” before he became too busy with his new series.

“He got cast in this S.W.A.T. pilot, and we knew if it went to series — and all signs point to yes — we would never to get to use him

‘Empire’ Ratings Rise, NBA Playoffs Score, ‘Criminal Minds’ Finale Down From 2016

Facing Game 5 of the Boston Celtics vs. Washington Wizards NBA Playoffs semifinals on TNT, the title of last night’s Empire (2.1/8) was “Absent Child.” However, with brotherly love and the intrigue you expect from the hip hop hit drama, what was not absent on Wednesday was ratings.

After hitting a series low and dipping below 2.0 for the first time ever while facing a NBA double header last week, the Ilene Chaiken run Empire bounced back last night with a 17% rise among adults 18-49 from the fast affiliate results of its May 3 show, which went up a tenth in the finals. All of which puts Empire back as the highest rated show of the night and, with 8 PM’s Shots Fired (0.8/9) even with last week, puts Fox back on top alone as the highest rated net of the night with a 1.5/6

TV Ratings Wednesday: ‘Empire’ rebounds, ‘Criminal Minds’ finale solid

You pick up a show, and its rating goes down. The Zen of TV.
Yesterday I discussed the measures used to evaluate the pilots that development executives give their blood, sweat and tears to, only to see them reduced to a data set. Yeah, I’m being dramatic.
Generally, before the schedule is set, the Research group gathers the interested parties together to share the testing. I never would have my guys hand out a document, and we would present the results of the pilots (comedies and dramas separate) in alphabetical order rather than in rank order. This way all pilots got their case heard.
The two most important measures are the percentage of respondents that rate the pilot as excellent and the percent of respondents that say they would definitely watch another episode. Almost as important are the scores for the characters,

Criminal Minds: Why Shemar Moore was in the finale

Warning: This story contains spoilers about Criminal Minds. Read at your own risk!

He was definitely a sight for sore eyes!

In Wednesday’s season finale of Criminal Minds, Shemar Moore – who left the CBS show during its 11th season – reprised his role as Derek “Chocolate Thunder” Morgan in the final moments of the episode. But his character rejoined his BAU colleagues as a civilian, not an FBI agent. Sadder still, Moore’s appearance was a one-off because he’s already lined up a new gig on a reboot of S.W.A.T. for CBS. Though CBS has yet to announce what it will pick up for the fall, the project from Shawn Ryan (The Shield), Justin Lin, and Neal Moritz is expected to get a series pickup before next week’s upfront presentation in New York.

“Shemar’s appearance was a sort of a dual purpose,” explains

‘Criminal Minds’ Season Finale Spoilers: Reid Battles a Former Enemy, We Know Why Derek Returns

The 12th season of Criminal Minds on CBS is coming to a close and we now know what to expect from the finale, including the highly anticipated return of star Shemar Moore.

The episode, called “Red Light,” features a blast from the past that Reid (played by actor Matthew Gray Gubler) experiences from a former enemy. But another familiar face also resurfaces as Shemar Moore’s character, Derek Morgan, returns following his exit from the show after 11 seasons.

It’s not clear how big of a role Derek will have this time around. But he will help the team as they get closer to catching the creepy and eerie Peter Lewis, also known as Mr. Scratch (portrayed by actor Bodhi Elfman.)
