Ted Kaczynski fights insanity plea in exclusive clip for Manhunt …

Paul Bettany as Ted Kaczynski

Ted Kaczynski finds out through Fitz that his own lawyers are conspiring to have him declared insane

The gripping conclusion to the capture and trial of Ted Kaczynski airs tonight on the last episode of Discovery’s Manhunt: Unabomber.

In our exclusive clip below we see exactly how FBI Agent and Criminal Profiler Jim “Fitz” Fitzgerald got Kaczynski to plead guilty.

It was the realization that the wood cabin where Kaczynski lived as a hermit in Montana — now stored as evidence in an Air Force warehouse — was going to be used by his own legal team to prove he was insane.

Kaczynski eventually plead guilty to the 16 bombings from 1978 to 1995, which killed three people and injured 23 others. He was convicted and sentenced to life in prison in 1998.

Yet it was not an easy road for law enforcement.

Manhunt: Unabomber sneak peek of Mark Duplass as David …

Mark Duplass, Paul Bettany

Paul Bettany as Ted Kaczynski and Mark Duplass as David Kaczynski

On this week’s Manhunt: Unabomber, we get the first look of Mark Duplass cast as David Kaczynski.

David ultimately was the reason the FBI was able to track down and capture his older brother Ted Kaczynski, aka the Unabomber.

After reading the Unabomber’s Manifesto in 1996, David acted on his wife Linda’s intuition and sent a sample of his brother Ted’s writing to the FBI for a comparative analysis.

Interestingly, David got a call stating that the letter he submitted was not a match and Ted was not a suspect. This was short-lived thank to the nature of FBI profiler, Jim “Fitz” Fitzgerald, and the ongoing investigation that has been stalled.

Fitz now lives in Pennsylvania and works at the Behavioral Analysis Unit of the FBI. But he was still obsessed with the

Don’t get me wrong, I am loving Discovery’s Manhunt: Unabomber. The network’s all-new scripted anthology series is a gripping dramatization of the FBI’s hunt for the notorious serial killer known as the Unabomber. The eight-episode drama follows FBI criminal profiler Jim “Fitz” Fitzgerald’s obsessive search to bring the Unabomber, Ted Kaczynski, to justice. Even if you’re unfamiliar with the specifics of the case, you’ve undoubtedly seen the infamous Unabomber sketch and have a passing knowledge of the fear and mayhem this elusive murderer engendered during the mid-nineties.

The series is a cerebral cat and mouse tale that commands your full attention. My only critique of Manhunt? If you’re going to name a series after the Unabomber, you GOTTA GIVE ME MORE UNABOMBER.

As a writer, I completely
