It’s night, a car pulls up in a wooded area and stops. A hooded figure gets out of the car and breaks the chain to a creepy shed. Inside the shed, there is a bunch of torture equipment, cassette tapes, men’s ties, and more. The figure goes back out to the car, revealing a man tied up inside the trunk.

Cut to Matt Simmons waking up in bed. His wife gets ready for work nearby. She’s happy to share a bed with her husband after ten years of marriage; the two share an intimate moment. ‘Criminal Minds’ Recap: Why the New Agent Won’t Ever Look at Suitcases the Same Way Again

J.J. and Rossi go to the medical examiner’s office and find out that the new victim has defensive lacerations on her hands and feet. She also has lipstick all over her lips. She was only wearing lingerie when she was found and had spermicide on her fingers. They conclude she was preparing for consensual sex.

Reid and Prentiss go to the police station and Reid reveals the condition of his reinstatement. After every 100 days on the job, he has to take 30 days off. Prentiss already knew about this; she was consulted about her opinion prior to the board making their decision. She has arranged him to teach seminars during his 30 days off and insists she’s confident in Reid’s abilities.

‘Criminal Minds’ Recap: Season 13 Premiere — Walker Dies, Hotch …

In picking up the pieces of May’s calamitous, Scratch-orchestrated car crash, Criminal Minds‘ Season 13 premiere ultimately set in motion a chain of events that reached out and touched Aaron Hotchner, who has been tucked away in WITSEC.

Shortly after Scratch plowed an 18-wheeler into the BAU’s pair of SUVs, Luke was able to walk away from the scene of the assault unscathed, while Rossi (wobbly leg), JJ (glass shards in temple) and Tara (undisclosed injuries) were hospital-bound. Agent Stephen Walker was the lone fatality, while Prentiss was missing — having been spirited away by Scratch.

When Prentiss came to, she found herself in an ersatz hospital room, tended to by some sort of physician. Once the doc left, Scratch entered,

‘Criminal Minds’ Recap: Does Reid Remember What Happened in Mexico?

What happened in Mexico cannot stay in Mexico, and in this Criminal Minds episode, the team is even more determined to have Reid remember just what happened and get Mr. Scratch, so Tara and Prentiss both sit out the case to do what they have to to help their teammate.

Meanwhile, Rossi, J.J., Luke and Stephen head to Arizona in “True North” to investigate when three bodies are found tied to stakes in the desert. If the case does just one thing, it teaches that science fair competition can be killer.

Criminal Minds Recap: Does Reid Make a Choice He Wouldn’t Have Considered Before Prison?

Even Reid’s Mind Can Play Tricks on Him

Mr. Scratch has been spotted in Honduras, and it’s very possible he passed through Mexico at some point. They need Reid to remember what happened in that motel room because if he can, Stephen has a contact at the

‘Criminal Minds’ Recap: Does Reid Make a Choice He Wouldn’t Have Considered Before Prison?

Reid’s in prison because he made a choice, and in this Criminal Minds episode, he makes another choice that affects those in prison with him.

Elsewhere in “Hell’s Kitchen,” with Rossi staying behind and visiting Reid and Tara giving expert testimony, Prentiss, J.J., Luke and Stephen are the only members of the team to travel to New York to hopefully find a teenage girl before she ends up like the victims of cold cases.

The Helplessness of Prison

Two weeks after Luis’ death, Reid’s not doing well and not sleeping, according to Stephen after a visit. Rossi hasn’t been to see him yet, “because I’m no good to him,” the agent tells Prentiss. “I even drove out there and couldn’t go in. Knowing I can’t get him out drives me insane.” But once he hears Reid has been asking for

‘Criminal Minds’ Recap: A Former FBI Agent Offers Reid Advice About Life in Prison

Reid is in prison on Criminal Minds, but as “Alpha Male” shows, he has more immediate problems than the possible 25 years-to-life he could serve if his trial doesn’t go his way.

Also, while the team may be worried about Reid, they do have to travel to Philadelphia to work a case involving an UnSub throwing acid in his victims’ faces. And just like in “Collision Course,” this case shows painful ramifications of rejection.

Criminal Minds Recap: Does Reid Take a Plea Deal?

Reid Could Use a Time Machine to Get Through the Three Months to His Trial

Garcia has put herself in charge of making sure that Reid knows they’re there for him. They’ll send him letters every day and they’ll put money in his commissary account. She’s put together a visitation schedule (and she’s first on the list, of course). However, that’s when Prentiss delivers the bad news: he’s been

Criminal Minds Recap: Slaying Doctor

This week on CBS’ Criminal Minds, one of the BAU’s own landed behind bars, south of the border. And the outlook for acquittal is left looking murky.

In a cold open that could have been a jaw-dropper had promos not tipped the show’s hand, a dusty car chase in Mexico ended with Reid being hauled into police custody, after thousands of dollars’ worth of coke and heroin were found in his trunk. His memory mucked up by a drug-induced fog, Reid has little to say to the Federales outside of a half-hearted, rebuffed request to call his mom. He also recalls meeting up with a doctor named “Rosa,” just before the arresting officer discovers that their American jailbird is FBI.

En route to Mexico, Prentiss, Alves, Rossi and
