“#MeToo” is the social media meme of the moment. In a 24-hour period, the phrase was tweeted nearly a half million times and posted on Facebook 12 million times. Spearheaded by actress Alyssa Milano in the wake of Hollyweird’s Harvey Weinstein sexual harassment scandal, women have flooded social media with their own long-buried accounts of being pestered, groped or assaulted by rapacious male predators in the workplace.

Count me out.

It’s one thing to break down cultural stigmas constructively, but the #MeToo movement is collectivist virtue signaling of a very perilous sort. The New York Times heralded the phenomenon with multiple articles “to show how commonplace sexual assault and harassment are.” The Washington Post credited #MeToo with making “the scale of sexual abuse go viral.” And actress Emily Ratajkowski declared at a Marie Claire magazine’s women’s conference on Monday: “The most important response to #metoo is ‘I believe you.'”

Waldorf Woman Charged After Leaving Three Children Unattended in Vehicle

On Saturday, June 24, 2017, Deputy J. Plunkett form the Charles County Sheriff’s Office responded to the TJ Maxx located at Waldorf Market Place, in Waldorf, for the report of an unattended child in a vehicle.

Upon arrival, police met with a witness who advised them she observed a white BMW with three children in it who were unattended. While talking the witness, police observed Ashante Yvonne Harrod, 28, of Waldorf, walk up to the vehicle. Police had confirmed that all three children were by themselves, and appeared to be in good health. The three children that were left unattended were a 2-year-old male infant, 7-year-old girl, and an 8-year-old girl.

Two of the three children were Ashante Harrod’s, the third child (7-year-old girl) is her sisters child. Police made contact with that child’s mother and advised her of the incident.

This woman was just arrested for wearing a short skirt in Saudi Arabia

Days after a video of her walking without an abaya in Ushayqir, Saudi Arabia, went viral, social media celebrity, Model Khoulod, was arrested by police in the kingdom, Arab News reported. 

Early on Tuesday “the Riyadh Police issued a statement indicating that the woman had been identified and questioned,” Arab News wrote. 

“Investigators specializing in such matters found several videos circulating on social networking programs that included those of a woman wandering in the heritage village of Ushayqir dressed indecently,” the police statement read.

“According to the system of combating cybercrime, the woman’s identity has been ascertained. She has acknowledged that she visited the heritage village, and claims the videos were published by an unknown person without her consent,” it added

“The case has been referred to the Public Prosecution Department,” the statement concluded

Canfield police charged a woman with endangering children after she was found with syringes and crack pipes down her pants on Saturday, according to a report.

Police stopped Robert Torvanak, 48, of Youngstown, whose license is under suspension. He was with Jessica Lasater, 29, of Salem, who also did not have a valid license. Lasater’s two daughters were also present.

When doing an inventory of the car prior to impounding it, officers reportedly found five pills of lorazepam in the center console. Police then searched both suspects, finding three syringes and two crack pipes in Lasater’s pants, according to the report.

Lasater told police they had just left a house in Youngstown where they went to purchase drugs.

Police found two bags of syringes in the vehicle, and four pills of clonazepam and a burnt spoon in Lasater’s purse.

Both suspects were charged with possession of drug abuse instruments. Tovarnak

Hunt for woman’s abductor continues

Police are door-knocking residents of a central Auckland street to gather information as they continue to make enquiries into a brazen attempted abduction of a young woman yesterday.

The victim, in her mid-20s, was walking along Haslett St, Eden Terrace just before 2pm when a man grabbed her from behind and dragged her into his car.

She managed to flee the moving vehicle, which she told police was a dark grey or silver medium-sized SUV, as it sped along Copeland St.

The woman was injured as she jumped from the vehicle and was hospitalised.

More than 20 people have called police to report information that may help with enquiries.

Auckland City police are assessing the information and following up leads, Detective Inspector Aaron Pascoe said.
